What a weekend. Halloween hit hard and I had an excellent time. Ted took me to a party with his girlfriend and we had a blast. Good music and fun costumes. But better than that, I met someone.
Her name is Sophie. She’s in a band and she’s really cool. She was dressed as Wonder Woman and totally looked the part. Definitely caught my attention. She’s the first girl I’ve met that seemed to really just ‘get me’ right away. We’ve got a date planned for the weekend. Very much looking forward to it.
Other than that, things are good. The new job seems fine so far, and school work isn’t getting the better of me. Can’t ask for much more than that.
So now, just because it’s fun, here’s Christopher Walken.

Good news - I’m employed again. One of the TAs at school had to give up their job because of low grades, so I’m the replacement. I’m psyched to be starting something new. Marking papers and assignments should be a pretty good gig. I like the prof that I’ll be working for. He taught me when I was in first year, so I should have a better experience with my boss than at my last job.
Ted’s taking me to a Halloween party this weekend. I still need a costume. Thinking about going as a vampire, I’m used to the pale-faced look. I wish I had something as cool as this, though.

This weekend was just what I needed. After a bad date, I was in a bit of a funk, but this weekend totally lifted my spirits. I caught a few of the Pop Explosion shows and had a great time. Ted and his girlfriend joined me on Saturday night and we had a blast.
It’s going to be another big weekend with Halloween quickly coming up. I’m thinking of dressing Gabby as a pirate. I’m sure I can make her a little hat and eye patch. I still have to figure out a costume for myself, though. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know. I don’t want to be one of the many Michael Jackson’s, though.

Well last night was my big date. I picked her up and we went for dinner at a nice restaurant downtown. I don’t think she was really ready for someone like me. She knew I’d be ‘quiet’, but I think she was expecting a little more by way of conversation. I did my best to entertain and be a good date, but I could tell she wasn’t feeling it. After dinner we went to a movie which was a nice distraction for both of us from the awkwardness of the date. I don’t suspect we’ll be going out again. My attempt at Internet dating was a failed experiment.
While at the theatre I noticed something that made me think of my old job. One of the workers at the concession stand was burned by the popcorn machine. I felt really bad for him as it reminded me of my burn at the restaurant. But unlike my situation, his manager was there right away to assist him. I wish I’d had that kind of help at my old job. Maybe I’d still be employed.
Oh well. I’m staying positive. I have job interviews next week and my favourite holiday is coming up with Halloween next weekend. I think I’ll take in some of the Pop Explosion this weekend and maybe carve a pumpkin or two.

Well it’s date night. I’m a bit nervous going into this thing blind, but I’m hoping for the best. I’ve never met someone through an online dating site before. We’re going for dinner and a movie, which I guess is a safe bet. The movie should be interesting. We’re seeing ‘Paranormal Activity’ which I hear is quite scary. Should put me in the mood for Halloween which is coming right up. I still need to figure out a costume. Oh well, I still have a week to get creative.
You may remember that before Thanksgiving I was talking about buses and their safety. Well today I saw this video that shows an out of control bus nearly hit someone running across a crosswalk. Lucky that the man survived, but also for the bus driver. It would have been terrifying to be on board as it hit all those cars as it rolled down the hill. Scary stuff.
Okay, off to get ready for the date. Wish me luck.

I could get used to being without a job. I’m quite enjoying all the free time I have. It makes school work less stressful too. If only I didn’t have to pay rent.
Money woes aside, life is good. My parrot Gabby keeps talking up a storm, which means there’s never a dull moment. Thankfully she sleeps a lot and I can get away from her chatter at night.
I’m spending part of my free time trying to find another job. I’ve got an interview or two lined up for next week. Hopefully something will come of that. I’ve also got a date tomorrow night. Oh the power of the Internet.

Sometimes I like to go grocery shopping late at night. There are fewer people, so the lines are shorter and I feel I can wander about doing my thing without getting in anyone’s way. It’s also quieter.
Tonight I went to pick up a few things and there was an employee restocking some of the top shelves. He had a ladder so he could reach. One of the other shoppers stopped to ask him a question and he must have been distracted enough that he lost his balance. He fell off the ladder, but caught his leg between the rungs. It looked incredibly painful. The customer yelled for help and one of his coworkers called for an ambulance. It’s crazy how quickly things like that can happen. I hope he’s okay. He was always very friendly to me.
In other news, the online dating world is strange. The good thing is that I feel like I can really express myself, but the strange part will be in actually meeting someone in person. It seems one girl is interested in going on a date this week. Any ideas on what we should do? I’m not exactly the smoothest player in the game, so a little advice would be appreciated.

Greetings sports fans. Another weekend in the books. With no job to tie me down I managed to take in what the city was dishing out.
Saturday night was Nocturne in Halifax. Art everywhere. Totally my scene. The Coast put up a nice little photopool that shows a lot of the exhibits. It was a really fun night and it was great to see so many people downtown. Just generally a good vibe. Nice work by everyone who was out working late, from artists to business owners and even the police. Handling big crowds like that at night must be challenging.
The only downside was that I had to go alone. But I’m working on that. Ted suggested I try looking online so I’ve recently joined a dating site. It can’t hurt, I guess. It’s spurning me on to find another job, too. No one wants to go out with someone who can’t pay for the date.

I mentioned the other day that I’ve been missing the companionship of a pet. So after doing some research on my options and what I have time for, I landed on a bird. A parrot, to be exact.
This morning I headed off to the pet store and purchased my first new pet. Her name is Gabriella. Gabby for short.
She sure does talk a lot. I think we’ll get along well, assuming I can get used to her frequent attempts at conversation.

I just got fired from my job. It really sucks. It’s quite upsetting but I guess I had it coming. I’ve been pretty unmotivated lately and my manager is never around to encourage me.
But if I’m being honest I guess there’s more to it. A couple weeks ago I burned my hand on some steam in the kitchen. I didn’t say anything to anyone about it, I just tried to keep working. But with my hand in a lot of pain I wasn’t able to be as quick at washing dishes anymore. I guess my boss was around long enough to notice my productivity level going down the drain. No one to blame but myself, I suppose.
I’ll miss Ted and my other coworkers. I’ll miss the pay cheque too.
I’m sure I’ll feel better about it tomorrow, but for now I’m off to lick my wounds.

I've never been much of a talker. That makes relationships tricky for me. One of my exes put it best. She said it just takes a long time to get comfortable with me. Libraries and movie theatres are my favourite places to hang out. I live in an apartment downtown, and I think I make an excellent neighbour. I find my biggest challenge lately is a job. I just can't seem to keep one.
